Weapon, oil 25 x 20cm

I'm very pleased to be included in the Small Works exhibition at beinArt Gallery in July and August, at Sparta Place in Brunswick (Melbourne). About 60 figurative artists will be represented, where the only brief constraint is that no dimension exceed 25cm. The show opens, free to the public, Saturday, July 29, 6 pm – 9 pm and runs until August 20. More info at beinArt, a gallery you ought to visit at other times too if you have any interest in very well-considered weirdness.

  2. I particularly love when weirdness in art can achieve to deeply explain what happen in real life like social or political issues , etc...,because sometime reality it's so hard to understand or being accepted that human nature needs to create something weirder to understand it , even when mystery resist to any kind of explanation it's good to know that we can "intervene" creatively , I guess it's the main reason for which I still like and miss Rod Serling's Twilight Zone and all your work .

    1. Well put! It's like you cannot compete with the strangeness of reality, you can only draw alongside it. I was thinking about the Twilight Zone recently, for all it's occasional corny moments, it did have serious depth and was probably the biggest influence on my imagination as an 11-year-old, discovering late night re-runs. Do wish Twilight Zone would be revived (properly), though Black Mirror seems a thoughtful cousin.

  6. Thanks for these comments. I keep returning to this image, thinking about it differently. Lately, as a weapon used by a government against its own people, like the denigration of journalism in the US. Mindful that one of the first things the Nazis (and many other regimes) did when seizing power was to smash printing presses and claim all independent media as an enemy of the state. There should only be one 'mouth', first rule of any intellectually frail oppressor.

  7. Mindful that 'intellectually frail oppressor' is kind of a tautology, ie. is there any other kind?
